Elaborately crafted kimono in black textile, decorated on both sides. Continuous ornament of flowing gold-colored lines and large red-and-gold floral medallions (plum or auspicious blossoms), executed with metallic shimmering threads.
Finely embroidered cranes shown multiple times on the front and back, rendered in white with outstretched wings, some in flight and others hovering. The crane depictions display a high level of detail in the feather work and are traditional symbols of longevity, good fortune, and marital fidelity.
Padded, heavy-weight version with long, wide sleeves, red lining, and red hem finish, typical of formal ceremonial or wedding kimonos. Highly decorative overall appearance created by the strong contrast of the black ground with bright red, gold, and white.
