The panels are framed by a fine, sculptural meander border; in the base section, five scholar’s objects likewise enclosed by a meander border. Red wedding kimono
Japan

Padded white Kimono
Japan
Ceremonial KimonoMade of silkily shimmering textile with softly graduated coloring from cream white to deep red. The front and back are richly and fully embroidered. The decoration shows repeated depictions of colorful birds with long, sweeping tail feathers in green, gold, and red tones, combined with densely arranged floral motifs in gold, silver, and white, along with fine leaf and branch elements.
The embroidery is executed with exceptional detail, featuring a high proportion of metallic shimmering gold and silver threads, especially in the rendering of the birds’ feathers and the blossoms. The motifs are harmoniously distributed across the entire surface, creating a lively and dynamic overall composition.
Heavy, padded construction with long, wide sleeves, red lining, and red hem finish, typical of formal uchikake worn at weddings and festive occasions. Overall a very sumptuous and highly decorative appearance.
