Attractive Temple Guardians

China, wohl Ming-Dynastie.

Dark marble frieze; half-relief carved in the round, depicting a pair of temple guardians in traditional attire and headdresses, armed with a halberd and a sword. Stern, forbidding facial expressions; at their feet, defeated opponents in bent, submissive poses. Decorative large relief with age-related cracks and damage.

White-gray marble; six-armed depiction of
the mother goddess seated in lotus posture, hands in symbolic gestures (mudras),
the left hand holding an alms bowl, with attributes in four hands positioned in front
within a flaming nimbus featuring a central Dharma wheel, whose eight
spokes embody the Noble Eightfold Path, representing perfection and salvation through
the Buddha’s teaching; meditative face beneath an ornate crown
adorned with elaborate Bodhisattva jewelry; seated on a high, stepped throne with
a central small Buddha, flanked by two mythical creatures acting as guardians

White marble; the magnificent figure of the mother goddess seated upright in lotus posture on a stepped throne, each hand holding a blossoming lotus, fingers in symbolic gestures. The head adorned with an ornate Bodhisattva crown, also wearing elaborate earrings and chest ornaments. Minor age-related imperfections, negligible for the otherwise excellent overall impression.
